One of Lexus’s most iconic and future-leading models – the LC 500 – gets a raft of improvements that cement its reputation as both a true driver’s car and a luxury coupe.
The latest LC 500 may boast notable specification changes, but it’s difficult to have a conversation about Lexus without talking about craftsmanship. The fine skills of Takumi craftspeople contribute to the high quality of every Lexus vehicle – and for the LC, Lexus has gone further to combine the traditions of Japanese culture and aesthetics with improved technologies.
In the cabin, the 2020 LC 500 comes standard with the functionality of the 17MM+ high-resolution audio. The new audio includes the standard USB, DAB phase driver, Miracast and smartphone linking, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
LEXUS HAS APPLIED ITS COLOUR CRAFTSMANSHIP TO PRODUCE A NEW BLAZING CARNELIAN FINISH FOR THE 2020 LC 500 COUPE.
Lexus has applied its colour craftsmanship to produce a new Blazing Carnelian finish for the 2020 LC Coupe. This finish is offered in combination with the equally striking Manhattan Orange interior colour option, titled Black and Orange for the South African market.
Blazing Carnelian has been created as an emotional colour that evokes the LC’s agile driving performance – and, with its high colour saturation and brilliance, it is unlike anything seen before on a Lexus. Multiple coats contribute to the ultimate effect, including two different high-saturation base coats and an additional mica base.
The equally striking interior colourway is a rich new tone for the LC’s cabin, inspired by the famous Manhattan Henge – a brilliant natural light effect that occurs twice a year, when the setting sun aligns perfectly with the New York district’s famous grid pattern of streets. Used for the headlining, door panels and seat- upholstery accents, it creates an exclusive and avant garde feeling.
Terrane Khaki (first introduced in the Lexus UX) is another new colour; it offers a strong contrast between bright highlights and dark, calm shades. Here, the mica particles have been enlarged as much as possible without creating colour unevenness, achieving high brilliance while expressing toughness.
ENGINEERED FOR DYNAMIC HANDLING AND RESPONSIVENESS
The LC’s Adaptive Variable Suspension system control has been improved, resulting in a smoother, more linear response, while Active Cornering Assist improves the handling through corners.
Variable Gear Ratio Steering (VGRS) and Dynamic Rear Steering (DRS) further add to the car’s handling response, leading to an increase in driver confidence on winding roads, and enhancing overall vehicle stability during high-speed driving.
The Electric Power Steering control has also been tweaked for improved steering feel and agility when changing lanes or driving on winding roads.
The LC 500 retains its acclaimed naturally aspirated high-performance V8 engine and 10-speed automatic transmission. With 351kW and a torque peak of 540Nm on tap, the LC 500 can sprint from zero to 100km/h in less than 4.7 seconds.
